In 2007, Earl Simpson found himself unemployed and turned to his faith for guidance. Seeking a role with ample interaction and consistent customer engagement, he envisioned becoming a driving instructor. Although he initially faced setbacks, failing the advanced theory test and his practical test three times, his determination did not waver.
Earl’s initial inquiry about an audio version of the theory test revealed that only DVD and hard copy formats were available. Undeterred, he sought permission from The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to create an audio version of the theory questions.
Earl's journey into developing an audio of the theory questions began with a clear vision. He recognized a niche gap in the market for audio learning materials and pursued the idea with persistence. Earl’s dedication and vision remained strong. His aim was to make learning accessible through audio, reflecting his personal learning preference and the need for such resources in the market for like-minded people.
Earl's path was marked by challenges along the way, and whilst working initially as a door-to-door sales person, he had a chance encounter with Anthony, (an already Advanced Driving Instructor), who gave him a few tips to become one himself. Driven by a passion for driving and teaching, Earl developed an interest in becoming an Advanced Driving Instructor, but he found the traditional reading material, containing a lot of information that required memorising and hoped for an alternative way of learning.
Wishing for something he could listen to while driving and doing other things, he decided to contact DVSA, and discovered there were no existing audio options available at the time, but Earl quickly followed this up by asking a cheeky question, and asked if he could be granted copy rights for an audio version of the questions. The rest is now history, as he created his own, a very unique Easy-To-Listen tool.
With help from his daughter Monique, a talented journalist with a professional reading voice, and Howard, a friend with a professional music recording studio and his professional recording skills to match, has helped to embarked on a mission to create an audio file based on the learning material available at that time. The project involved over 92 hours of recording and mastering time, but has resulted in the highest quality product produced. Earl's audio version stands out for its human touch and clarity, contrasting with AI versions that suffer from pronunciation issues.
Earl’s goal is to provide you with an alternative way of listening and learning new skills via audio. This audio version (whilst it is a theory), you still have to put in the time and the effort to learn it, to pass both your theory and driving test successfully. No one can do that for you!
"Don't just read and learn the answers, but know and understand why the answers are correct". After you pass your practical test, have you driven on, and gained enough driving experience on motorway driving, country lane and rainy-day driving. Have you experienced enough night driving, and driving in snowy conditions?
If not, the responsibility becomes yours to ask your driving instructor for additional lessons to give you these valuable, (possibly) live saving skills, especially before going out with passengers in your car just after passing your driving test.
Give yourself time!
Build your confidence before entertaining other passengers in your car, which indeed becomes a distraction in the early days of driving on your own.
Be Mindful, be Safe and be Aware. Your driving experience and driving skills will be required in such times as hazards do present themselves, and it becomes your responsibility, to get your passengers to their journeys end, in Safety.
My Aim, is to Drive home the importance, of Driving Safely and Responsibly on the road.
I believe audio listening is an alternative to the traditional way of learning, especially for those, who like me, find it more effective to learn, listening via audio.
“LearnWhileuTravel”, is geared towards safety, and the skills must be embraced and implemented into your driving experience.
Yes, its affordable, but make it successful by adhering to the basic skills required for Safe Driving on any road, AnyPlace, AnyTime, AnyWhere.
Earl is the sole director of LWuT, but is helped from a professional IT expert, Roger (who was also his high school friend way back when). If you have any questions, or need assistance, we are here to help you navigate through to success.
